David was active as a youth coach, which led him into service as a member of the Sports Boosters, Pep Club and inspired him to be a community volunteer. His involvement in these roles reflects his deep commitment to supporting the community and contributing to the development of local youth. His wife, Sue, is a science teacher for the Montrose Public School District. David is the proud father of three Hemlock Huskies: Alexis, a graduate from the class of 2018, who is a licensed insurance agent with Mayan Agency in Merrill, Michigan; Marissa, from the class of 2021, who is majoring in engineering at Michigan Tech; and Gabe, who is part of the graduating class of 2026. David was drawn to the Hemlock agricultural community, reflecting his childhood experiences. He graduated from Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools in 1988 and earned a degree in Marketing from Central Michigan University in 1993.
David serves as a board of education member because he enjoys the energy and the impact he can make in this role. He brings a strong business acumen, a focus on people, and a dedication to promoting the school system and community. He sees these qualities as essential in helping to navigate the district's challenges. He identifies the biggest challenge facing our school and others today as the conflict between resources and needs/wants, especially in balancing human resources with facility and material requirements.
David is committed to the mission and vision of the school district, emphasizing the importance of providing the best quality education and experience possible. He is most proud of the significant achievements that occur in our small school, highlighting the cleanliness of our facilities, our strong identity, and our focus on the future.
