The Hemlock community is bursting with pride as members of our Track and Field team prepare to compete at the state meet this Saturday, June 1st. This year marks a milestone for our athletes, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and grit, particularly in their inaugural season on the new Krueger Track at Wallace Field.
"Our athletes have put in the hard work and dedication needed to reach this level," said Coach Kyle Coblentz. "Watching them compete and succeed on our new track has been a delight. They embody the spirit of our community and the essence of teamwork."
Leading the charge is Matthew Johnston, the regional champion in the 300 hurdles. His outstanding performance and determination have set a high bar for excellence. Klaira Salo has also shone brightly, claiming the title of regional champion in the 100-meter dash and qualifying in the 400-meter race. Lydia Scherzer’s impressive skills earned her the runner-up position in shot put, while Izzy Krueger qualified in the 400 meters. The dynamic team of Izzy Krueger, Lydia Scherzer, Lillian Martinez, and Klaira Salo have made waves by qualifying in the 4x100 meter relay.
Athletic Director Cory Snider noted, "The achievements of our varsity track team this season are a testament to their perseverance and the support of our incredible community. We are thrilled to see them compete on the state level."
Join us in honoring and celebrating our remarkable qualifiers as they head to Kent City High School to compete at the state meet. Hemlock's community spirit is behind them, cheering them on every step of the way as they #PullTheSled. The event will take place on Saturday, June 1st, and we are confident our athletes will represent us with distinction.
Let’s show our Hemlock pride and support our athletes as they strive for excellence. Go Huskies!
