Hemlock Public School District is pleased to share the current version of our long-term Master Site Plan and the District’s Strategic Plan and Goals.
District Goals:
Building + Grounds | Improve the physical infrastructure and facilities of our school district by effectively planning, budgeting, and implementing bond projects that address identified needs and prioritize the safety, accessibility, and functionality of our buildings and grounds.
Relationships | Foster strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders in our school district, including students, parents, teachers, staff, community members, and local government, in order to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Curriculum + Instruction | Provide a dynamic and challenging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of the students in our district and that prepares them for success in college and career. Review and align curriculum and resources using data-driven decision-making.
Fiscal Management | Manage the financial resources of the school district in a responsible, transparent, and accountable manner while ensuring that all students have access to high-quality educational opportunities.
The Master Site Plan, Strategic Plan, and District Goals collectively outline our vision for the future and set a clear roadmap for the next decade. We developed the Master Site Plan after months of extensive research, analysis, and collaboration with stakeholders.
It's important to note that the Hemlock Public School District's Master Site Plan is a multi-year, multi-phase project that will take time to fully implement. While we are excited to share this plan and the positive changes it will bring, we understand that it will be a gradual process. Our team is committed to making steady progress toward our goals, and we will keep our stakeholders informed of our progress every step of the way. It is important to note that there are items that are pieces of our Master Site Plan that are not part of our 2022 bond and will require the district to implement these improvements as funding is available.
"I am excited to see the Hemlock Public School District's Master Site Plan come to fruition,” offered Board President Matt Wesener. “This plan showcases our dedication to student safety, improved learning environments, and forward-thinking strategies for future growth. We look forward to seeing these initiatives implemented and the positive impact they will have on our students, staff, and community."
The primary focus of the Master Site Plan is to enhance student safety, improve the learning environment, and streamline traffic flow across the district. The plan includes several key initiatives designed to achieve these goals, including the continued focus on security systems, the renovation and expansion of existing facilities, and the implementation of new traffic management strategies.
"We are thrilled to unveil our updated Master Site Plan, which is the culmination of months of hard work and collaboration with our stakeholders," said Dr. Don Killingbeck, Superintendent of Hemlock Public School District. "Our goal with this plan is to create a safe and welcoming environment for our students, teachers, and staff while also preparing for the future growth of our community."
One of the most significant aspects of the Master Site Plan is the expansion of the district's facilities to accommodate for some future growth. Tremendous progress has been made on portions of the plan, including the erection of the K.C. Ling Gym and the renovation of K-12 classrooms to meet modern standards. Meanwhile, the construction of the performing arts theatre and competition gymnasium are in their early stages.
Additionally, the Master Site Plan has addressed traffic congestion around the district's schools by implementing new traffic management strategies, including the addition of new bus routes and drop-off and pick-up zones. While construction remains ongoing in parking areas around Wallace Field, these changes have already helped to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance safety for students, parents, and staff.
"We believe that this Master Site Plan represents a significant step forward for our district and our community," added Board President Wesener. "We look forward to working with our stakeholders to implement these initiatives and create a safer, more welcoming, and more prosperous future for our students and our community."
