This past Saturday, Hemlock Public School District celebrated a beloved community tradition with the 53rd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Senior Citizens, hosted at Hemlock Middle School. Over 280 senior citizens attended, filling the school with joy, gratitude, and a sense of togetherness.
Dr. Don Killingbeck, Superintendent of Hemlock Public Schools, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon, adding a warm and welcoming touch to the event. Students from Hemlock Middle and High School volunteered their time and energy, graciously serving meals, beverages, and personally delivering prizes to each attendee. Their dedication and cheerful spirits added a special touch to the event, showcasing the strong intergenerational bonds in our community. The event also featured a raffle with over 30 additional prizes, creating moments of excitement and surprise for the attendees.
The turkey meal, complete with all the classic Thanksgiving fixings, was nothing short of incredible. From savory stuffing to delicious apple crisp, every bite was crafted with care and served with a smile. The warmth and generosity of the Hemlock community shone through in every aspect of the afternoon, creating a festive atmosphere that left everyone feeling grateful and appreciative.
“We’re truly thankful for our community and loved ones who make events like this possible,” said Mr. Chase, Principal of Hemlock Middle School. “This dinner has become a cherished tradition, and it’s heartwarming to see our students engage with and serve our senior community members.”
Hemlock Public Schools extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make this event a wonderful success. We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come, celebrating our community and fostering connections across generations.
