Hemlock Welcomes MSU’s Anthony Ianni

Hemlock, MI- Recently, Hemlock Middle School and K.C. Ling Elementary welcomed former Michigan State University basketball player and first college basketball player with autism, Anthony Ianni.

Mr. Ianni shared a powerful message with students about respecting themselves and each other and how to eliminate bullying.  His real-life personal experiences with having autism and other personal differences throughout adolescence helped our students understand the negative effects of mean behavior, and the positive effects of treating each other with respect. He shared with students about standing up when we see negative treatment to others.

Principal Gensch shared, “This was such a wonderful message to our students to treat each other with kindness, and stick up for others.”

Principal Keyser stated, “We were honored to have Anthony Ianni come visit and help spread a powerful message on eliminating bullying.  He had a great effect on our middle school students.”
