Hemlock Public School District is excited to announce upgrades to the playgrounds at Hemlock Elementary and K.C. Ling Elementary, set to be completed just in time for Valentine’s Day. These enhancements, made possible through grant funding and the district’s commitment to supporting the "whole child," aim to provide students with safe, engaging spaces to play, socialize, and grow.
Board President Matt Wesener said, "Our schools are places where children should thrive, and these playground improvements are a testament to how we are investing in their future. This is about more than equipment—it’s about ensuring every child has a space to learn through play, connect with their peers, and build lifelong memories."
The upgrades are the culmination of thoughtful planning and collaboration among district leaders and building principals, and educators, all focused on creating spaces that promote semi-independent play, socialization, and leadership opportunities for young learners.
Superintendent Killingbeck expressed his excitement about the project:
"Play is an essential part of a child’s development. These new playgrounds represent our mission to foster safe, structured, and joyful environments for students to grow not just academically but socially and emotionally. This project is another example of our district’s dedication to our values and our vision for supporting the whole child."
While the upgrades, starting next week, are slated for completion in February, the district is planning to celebrate this milestone. Details and dates will be announced soon.
The Hemlock Public School District thanks its community, staff, and grant partners for helping make this vision a reality. Together, we continue to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead in an environment that supports their whole development.
