Hemlock Public School recently received an unexpected donation, the Huskie Express! A businessman from southeast Michigan with connections to Hemlock Sports Boosters and Student Leading Students (SLS) Advisor, John and Diane Mulvaney contacted the school in December with an offer to donate the approximately $50,000 electric train. The nearly new train, similar to ones you see in malls, arrived in Hemlock on a cold, snowy day in January, but heated the hearts of those present.
Superintendent Killingbeck said, “This an amazingly kind and generous donation that will surely bring smiles to Huskies of all ages.”
Hemlock Public School District plans to use the Huskie Express in parades, special events, and to encourage student success.
Principal Lori Gensch said, “We are so grateful for such a generous donation and excited to utilize the Huskie Express as another way to create fun learning experiences for our students.”
