Strengthening Our Team, Shaping Our Vision 🛠️
Late last month, we kicked off the summer with a purposeful retreat at the Saginaw ISD Hartley Outdoor Education Center, where our Hemlock Public School District administrative office team spent the day reconnecting, reflecting, and refocusing for the year ahead.
From thoughtful discussions to hands-on challenges—like the ever-tricky “toxic waste” team-building exercise—we leaned into the power of communication, collaboration, and trust. These shared experiences weren’t just fun; they laid the groundwork for deeper conversations about leadership, purpose, and the impact we want to have on our students and community.
A big thank you to Samantha Simons and the team at Saginaw ISD for their warm hospitality and support. As we look toward the new school year, we’re reminded: the road to student success is paved with strong leadership, united goals, and a team that pulls the sled together.

🎓 Alumni Spotlight | Chris Tompa, a 2003 Hemlock graduate, remembers his time fondly—balancing work, enjoying shop class, and building strong connections with teachers and classmates. He credits Hemlock for giving him a foundation in communication, problem-solving, and confidence—skills that serve him well today as a licensed hearing instrument specialist.
After earning degrees from Delta and Northwood and completing hearing instrument specialist training through CMU, Chris went on to open Crystal Clear Hearing in Saginaw, where he helps people improve their lives through better hearing.
He’s most proud of building a meaningful life with his wife Teresa and their two kids, Bradley and Vivian. His advice to current Huskies: “Take your time seriously, work hard, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. The staff truly care and want to see you succeed.”
