The Hemlock Public School District's Wellness Team is here to champion the health of our huskie pack all summer long. 🍎 This week, we encourage you to practice five-finger breathing with your student as a coping skill to help them deal with school anxiety.

Other ways to reduce anxiety:
• Breathe in and out slowly. (Try square breathing: breathe in for 4 seconds, hold breath for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, hold breath for 4 seconds.)
• Talk to someone you trust.
• Get active: walk, stretch or do a physical activity you enjoy.
• Get enough sleep and eat healthy foods.
• Turn off your phone; take a break from social media.
• Write down in words how you are feeling.
• Draw a picture of how you feel.

Healthy Huskie Update 🦷 The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is rolling out a new program that includes dental screenings as part of kindergarten enrollment. While it's currently in select counties, it will expand statewide over the next three years. We're excited to be hosting a dental bus at each of our elementary open houses on Wednesday, August 21st, offering these important screenings. Plus, you can swing by to learn more before they return to our school for cleanings on October 4th-7th. Let's keep our Huskies healthy and smiling! #HemlockHuskies #Since1863

There are just 2 weeks until our Huskies return to the halls of our campus, and we couldn't be more excited. Luckily, they don't have to wear silly goggles when they return, but there will be some school supplies you'll want to stock up on.
