Ling Elementary or at the softball, baseball, and soccer parking lots (marked in yellow) and walk over. The south entrance to the football field by the High School is closed until further notice, likely reopening mid-August. Please DO NOT drive on the grass by the discus and shot put areas. Additionally, the weight room has limited/no access at this time but should be available sometime during the week of July 8th; we will send additional communication when the weight room is available again. Did you know the current school funding structure in Michigan was created by Proposal A in the 1990s? Here's one crucial thing to understand: Our school district relies on non-homestead millage to receive the base per-pupil foundation allowance (lowest/minimal). All public school districts in Michigan pass this millage, but it can be confusing when people see positive changes in the school district, like construction, and assume we're well-funded. We have different funding streams (or buckets): General Fund (non-homestead), Construction (tax-neutral 2022 bond), and Maintenance (sinking fund, 2020). It's essential to clarify that this millage is required to keep our lights on and pay our teachers and staff. The millage funds staff and teacher wages and this funding has been in place for normal operations for a very long time since the inception of Proposal A.
