Tom Lockwood has nominated Maurice Goka as our Staff Recognition Highlight this week.
Maurice Goka is the Mobile Device Configuration and Repair Specialist at Hemlock Public School District. He works approximately 20 hours a week during the school year and 40 hours a week during the summer. He is a full-time student at SVSU.
“Maurice is a hard worker and talented young man”, states Tom Lockwood, Hemlock’s Technology Director. “We now manage over 1100 Chromebooks from 1st grade through 12th grade and that’s Mo’s baby. Without his dedication and hard work we would not be running an outstanding 1:1 computing initiative”. Lockwood continues, “This initiative has allowed the district to change the way that we engage kids on a day-to-day and even hour-to-hour basis.”
Maurice is currently studying to be a math and history teacher at SVSU. He also hopes to pursue a career in basketball coaching. When asked why he wanted to be a teacher, Maurice stated, “I just want to do something where I can really help as many people as possible to better themselves and helping to give them the ability to learn throughout life allows people to do that.” Outside of work, Maurice is also a trainer for 2nd to None basketball training. He enjoys working out and playing/watching many different sports with friends and family including basketball, football, soccer, and baseball. He also likes to play video games with his friends and watch movies with his dad.
Alex Haltom, who works with Maurice says, “Mo is very easy to get along with and is liked by all staff and students. I just wish he was more adventurous when choosing pizza toppings.”
