As the days grow shorter and the excitement for the fall season builds, Hemlock football is gearing up for an exciting new chapter under the leadership of Coach Jamie Slate. After a challenging couple of seasons with a combined record of 4-15, the Huskie Pack is looking forward to better days ahead with their new coach at the helm.
Coach Slate, a former Hemlock standout, has brought fresh energy and a renewed sense of purpose to the program. His focus has been on building a culture of hard work, toughness, pride, and trust—both on and off the field. Through his innovative "Alpha Dog" program, Hemlock's student-athletes have earned over 300 hours of community service, demonstrating their commitment to excellence in all aspects of life.
The season kicks off on Thursday, August 29th, with the Huskies facing off against Essexville Garber at home on Wallace Field. The Community Appreciation Game Night is sponsored by the Hemlock Community Pep Club, providing free admission for all those Huskie fans. Coach Slate is calling on the entire Huskie Pack to come out and support the team, filling the stands with that unmistakable Hemlock pride.
"This year's team has put in the work this off-season, and they're ready to show what they're made of," says Coach Slate. "We’ve got some incredible talent on the field, and we’re excited to showcase the hard work these players have put in to elevate Hemlock football."
With senior leaders like quarterback Chad Brown and receiver Landon Zastrow, the Huskies are poised to make a strong statement in the new Tri-Valley Conference Blue lineup. While the road ahead won't be easy, Coach Slate and his team are determined to rise to the challenge, setting a new standard for Hemlock football.
Angela Pohl, Hemlock's Athletic Director, shares her excitement for the upcoming season: "Our community has always rallied behind our athletes, and this year will be no different. With Coach Slate at the helm, there's a renewed energy that's contagious and I can't wait to see how he inspires our young men to compete. We're looking forward to seeing our stands packed with Huskie pride as we kick off a new era of Hemlock football."
So mark your calendars and join us under the Friday night lights on August 29th. Together, let's #PullTheSled and cheer on our Huskies as they embark on this exciting new journey. See you at Wallace Field!
