Dax

Hemlock Public School District is proud to announce the 2nd annual 'Day of Dax' event, a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Dax Burk, a beloved Hemlock High School student whose life was tragically cut short on May 20, 2023. Dax, a vibrant young man known for his outgoing personality and passion for the trades, was poised to graduate in 2023. He was training to become an HVAC union member and was actively working as a technician for D&R Mechanical.

Dax was born on April 12, 2005, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Dean and Darci Burk. He was a hardworking individual with a love for the outdoors, spending his free time fishing, playing basketball and football, and staying active through workouts. He also had a passion for traveling and camping, with some of his most cherished moments spent with his family in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. An enthusiast of trucks, Dax enjoyed working on vehicles, installing sound systems, and sharing his talents with friends.

The 'Day of Dax' event will take place on Saturday, September 28th, at Tommy's Express Car Wash on State Street in Saginaw. This event is an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate Dax’s legacy and support a cause close to his heart. All day long, a portion of every car wash will be donated to a scholarship fund dedicated to supporting Hemlock High School students pursuing careers in the trades. With each wash, participants are helping build futures and keeping Dax’s spirit alive.

“Dax was known for his passion for hands-on projects. Whether he was fixing up a truck or helping a friend, he always gave it his all. This event is about celebrating Dax’s legacy and supporting students who share that same drive to work with their hands and create their own paths,” said Dr. Don Killingbeck, Superintendent of Hemlock Public School District.

Please join us for this special day and be part of a cause that continues to make a difference. Your participation not only honors Dax's memory but also plays a role in helping future generations succeed in the trades.
