Student of the Week: Cora Love

Hemlock High School is delighted to recognize freshman Cora Love as our Student of the Week! Cora’s dedication, kindness, and enthusiasm for learning and participating in school activities make her a shining example of what it means to be a Huskie.

“I am very honored to have been chosen Student of the Week,” Cora said. “I so appreciate the hockey tickets and kind note that you gave me in the office today.”

When asked about her favorite part of school, Cora shared her love for band class. “We can learn new music and hopefully bring joy to other people by playing it for them,” she explained. She especially enjoys performing at the boys' and girls' varsity home basketball games, where she gets to combine her love of music with supporting her peers in athletics.

Cora’s passion for academics is also evident. She says she’s most passionate about band and algebra. “I enjoy performing with the rest of our band at various games and local events,” Cora said. “Algebra is fun for me because Mr. Kreuger and Ms. DeBeau present the material in a way that’s easy to understand. I’m grateful to say that I have good grades in both of these classes.”

Cora credits Mrs. Gerard as her biggest inspiration at school. “She reminded me how much fun reading could be, and she made me want to do well in school,” Cora shared.

Looking ahead, Cora plans to continue her education after high school at a college or university, with an interest in working with animals. “Attending a good college or university should be possible if I continue to work hard and keep up my grades throughout my high school years,” she said.

Principal Keith Green had high praise for Cora, saying, “Cora is possibly the nicest student in Hemlock. She is very caring and kind to everyone.”

Congratulations to Cora Love on this well-deserved recognition! Hemlock is proud of you and excited to see the joy and inspiration you bring to our school community. Keep up the great work!
