On April 22nd, Hemlock High School students will be rolling up their sleeves and stepping outside—not just to celebrate Earth Day, but to make a real difference in their community.

In partnership with students from Hemlock’s 4th through 8th grades, the high school students will be taking part in a large-scale clean-up and revitalization project on the Agresta Cross Country Course. This effort is more than just a spring clean—it's a commitment to preserving nature and promoting healthy, active living for both students and the entire Hemlock community.

The Agresta Course, a staple for runners in our district, is about to get a major upgrade. Plans for the day include removing debris, trimming overgrowth, and enhancing the trail’s natural beauty. But it doesn't stop there. The area will be re-engineered and revitalized to better serve not only our student athletes but also local residents. The updated course will feature a clearly marked, well-defined walking path, providing community members a scenic and peaceful place to get outdoors, enjoy nature, and stay active.

ā€œThis project is a perfect example of what Earth Day is all about—giving back to the planet and our community,ā€ said Mr. Keith Green, Hemlock High School Principal. ā€œIt’s inspiring to see our students take ownership of this space and lead the charge in creating something lasting and meaningful.ā€

Earth Day at Hemlock High is more than a single day of service—it’s a celebration of community, teamwork, and pride in our surroundings. With the combined efforts of students from across grade levels, the Agresta Cross Country Course will soon become a renewed gem that reflects the heart and values of the Hemlock community.
