Our STEAM class is in need of terracotta pots and plates like those pictured below as a part of our kindergarten plants and pollinators unit. If you have any at home that you are not using and would like to donate for us to 'upcycle' for our project, please send them in to Mrs. Schmidt. Thank you!

Thank you, STEM at SVSU for the grant that has allowed us to purchase materials for outdoor science exploration. Kindergarten kiddos searched the schoolyard for examples of living and nonliving things. Our young scientists favorite findings included ants, flowers, and a grub!

1st Grade STEAM students learned about the importance of pollination and created and tested their own hand pollination tools. We are excited to plant our Tower Garden later this week to continue our conversation about plants and pollinators.

Thank you, @MiSTEM and @STEMatSVSU for the opportunities that your mini-grant is providing for our students at K.C. Ling and Hemlock Elementary. This week, 2nd-4th grade students learned to write algorithms using block coding. While programming Dash and Dot to do a variety of tasks, students worked together to troubleshoot any "bugs" that they came across and to discover where loops could be used to shorten their algorithms.
